Hudson Delaware Planning LLC was born out of a lifelong love of learning about finance and helping people. The name is a reference to the two rivers, near which all of the important milestones in my life have happened.
Working with my clients has been — and continues to be — one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I truly feel honored that they put their trust in me to help them work towards reaching their own milestones. And I’d love to do the same for you.
I think my clients are best served with an individual approach. Of course, the standard “know your numbers” is important, but it’s just one piece of the complete financial puzzle. I believe in helping clients find what works for them. And, with my love of spreadsheets and passion for digging into the details, I do the deep work so that you can feel comfort knowing someone is looking out for you and putting your financial interests first. And, as a fiduciary, I’m legally bound to do that. This isn’t about a fee, it’s about your goals, the steps to take and your financial peace of mind.
On our third date I asked my now-wife how much she was contributing to her 401k and what else she was doing to save for retirement. So I guess you can say I’ve always been interested in personal finance and financial planning! But like most people, my journey to get here took a few twists and turns along the way.
I grew up in the Hudson Valley and went to college in Easton, Pennsylvania, right on the Delaware River. I’ve always loved building things and solving problems, so I started my college experience with an engineering major. But after three semesters I switched to Economics and Finance and suddenly the courses “clicked.”
After graduation, I worked for a few financial firms, some of which you might have heard of and others, definitely not. While I learned something new with each role, one was particularly transformative. After more than 10 years in various financial risk management positions, I found myself at a company that was declining. Before it closed its doors, I had almost a year to think about what challenge I wanted to tackle next. How could I combine helping people in a meaningful and rewarding way, my desire to do work I find interesting and my professional background? Financial planning checked all the boxes. And luckily, I had the blessing of my wife, who is still saving for retirement.
When I’m not crunching numbers and designing spreadsheets, you can find me most weekends kayaking and hiking in New York's Hudson Valley. I’ve even been known to build some furniture. Feel free to ask me what my preferred wood is. Or I can just send you over a spreadsheet ranking them from most favorite to least.
